By BookMaven
If you're new to running, understand that the shoe that's great for one person may not fit the needs or preferences of another person. So, you should probably go to a running store and get fitted for and test several different types of shoes before you decide what you need and want. Given that, I'm just going to give a short description of some of the positives and negatives that I have experienced with this shoe.
First of all, this is a monster of a shoe. It's got a really thick layer of foam, particularly toward the heel, that just sucks up impact and gives you a nice bounce. The insoles have this almost memory-foam type quality to them. They literally mould to your feet, and I think it feels great. I also find this to be perfect for my running needs (I have pretty bad runner's knee on one side and a tendency to get shin splints because I am a heavy runner, with a stomping kind of gait). But, if you prefer to feel a lot of pavement under your feet as you run, this is probably not the shoe for you.
Second, the shoe is not what I would call light. It is light considering the amount of support and padding it has. However, you can definitely feel them hanging on your feet. Despite all the material though, it's pretty well ventilated, so your feet stay cool.
Third, the support this shoe offers is nothing short of amazing. I am a serious overpronater with small but flat and wide feet. This shoe effectively corrects my overpronation and the insoles seem to provide the support I need because, well, my feet don't ache or swell as much as they used to after a long run.
Fourth, I've had the shoes for about a month and they've been getting some decent wear on them, but are pretty tough (good quality). The laces don't slip (which is great) and the tongue has three loops on it that you can pull the laces through, so there's minimal slip. There's also an extra hole at the top of the laces you can use to further tighten up the shoe, which is very nice if you have a tendency to "shake" your foot while running, like I do.
The shoe does seem to run a little on the small side. I wear a size 5 (US) and usually buy a 5.5 running shoe. However, I felt more comfortable with a size 6 on this particular shoe (kind of wish they had a 5.75... is that too much to ask?).
Finally, the shoe is good-looking. There's some running shoes out there that are functionally wonderful but come in color combinations I wouldn't be caught dead wearing in public (You hear me Asics GT 2170 G-TX??). This shoe is mostly white with silver, black, and teal highlights. Nice and adult, and looks good with just about any running outfit you can throw together.

By Vdre77
I always buy this brand shoe. I can't find this kind of comfort anywhere else, and it is tough finding shoes that fit orthotics (flat feet). This particular model I always buy, however the updated addiction 10 is smaller than usual. I had to go a half size larger. Other than sizing issues, the shoe is terrific. There were no return complications either. Definitely sticking to this brand.

By K
Whether you walk or run, the Brooks Addiction 10 is well worth the money.
This shoe is extremely comfortable and wears well. It feels lightweight but
has a great deal of support.
The sizing is important, so would recommend getting fit for your specific size
and width.
