In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Let me first say I love the way these shoes look! I was so bummed that the fit was not more accurate to the description. The heel/ankle support sits much higher on the ankle than my other Asics. The arch support is more substantial than I believe was described. Overall, if you need more ankle and arch support, these would be a great shoe. For someone who is a neutral pronator, these shoes are not for you.

I Bought this shoe for my daughter who had to have these running shoes. She ran just a little, she mostly did walking in these shoes and the soles are peeling away from the gel layer in the heel area after only 2 mos of moderate wear. This is the first time I've had a problem with ASICS running shoes. Needless to say I'm very dissapointed. For the price they should last longer than 2 months. We Will be returning the shoes.

I am a nurse and asics are the only shoes I buy, but these are by far my favorite pair. They are comfortable, stylish, breathable, and best of all my feet don't hurt at the end of my shift. I would highly recommend these shoes!
